The police entry into the home of Tomasz Sakiewicz will backfire on the government. The analysis leaves no doubt

More than 94% of people commenting on the police entry into the home of Tomasz Sakiewicz criticize the government. This follows from a social media analysis prepared by the “Res Futura” foundation.

On Friday, police officers forced their way into the home of the CEO of TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz. The officers did not identify themselves and handcuffed a woman who demanded that they do so, then proceeded to search the apartment without a warrant. The intervention at the premises concerned a report of a child’s attempted suicide.

It was one of around 30 incidents linked to false reports targeting journalists and employees of the station.

Crushing narrative asymmetry

The “Res Futura” foundation, which monitors social media, examined how internet users perceived the incident. The conclusion is simple: almost everyone who refers to Friday’s police actions criticizes them and the government.

“The police entry into the apartment of Tomasz Sakiewicz, head of TV Republika, generates a crushing narrative asymmetry of 94% vs 6%. Pro-Republika sentiment has reached a scale we have not observed since the end of 2023,” the foundation states.

As it adds, “pro-Republika sentiment is breaking beyond the right-wing bubble, drawing into the discourse people from outside the core opposition electorate.”

“TV Republika has historically functioned as a strongly ideological station with high engagement from the core right-wing electorate and low reception among the center/left. The dynamics of May 15-16 break this pattern: the framing of a “defenseless female assistant” and procedural arguments (lack of a warrant, lack of officer identification) operate on a non-political level, bringing into the discourse individuals from outside the core right-wing electorate,” we read in the analysis.

“In the May 15-16, 2026 window, the discourse around the police entry into Tomasz Sakiewicz’s apartment was dominated by a wave of systemic criticism of the government, led from the position of the right and the Republika camp. 68,589 mentions generated 776,000 interactions, with a peak between 14:00-19:00 on May 15, after which the discussion faded and did not rebound on May 16. The clash of narratives is overwhelmingly decided 94% vs 6% in favor of the side criticizing the government,” the foundation reported.

The analysis also outlines public expectations related to the incident. 35% of respondents are said to demand full disclosure of the report and the decision to enter the apartment, 25% call for the resignation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński or the Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek, and 20% expect sanctions against officers who concealed their identity.
