The President vetoed the first bill. He also signed a new project freezing electricity prices

“I have decided in an unequivocal way to veto the so-called wind farm bill,” said President Karol Nawrocki during a statement.

Not all bills were signed. “There is one bill that I have decided in an unequivocal way to veto,” said President Karol Nawrocki during a statement to the media.

He explained that it was the so-called wind farm bill.

“It is a form of blackmail by the parliamentary majority and the government not only against the President of the Republic of Poland, but also against society,” Nawrocki emphasized. “This bill concerns wind turbines, not the reduction of electricity prices,” he explained. He added that in order to lower prices it is necessary to abandon the ETS(EU Emissions Trading System) and the Green Deal.

He stressed that he was disturbed by social protests against the placement of wind turbines near people’s homes. “I am the voice of Poles, and this is how I view all the bills that are presented to me (…). Wherever the parliamentary majority does not listen to the social voice of Poles, the President of Poland will always stand on the side of society,” the president explained.

He clarified that the so-called wind farm bill was not met with a positive social response, hence his decision.

A new project is already ready

Nawrocki assured that the presidential office had prepared a draft solution, which, if quickly processed by parliament, could already by the end of September, with the president’s signature, guarantee Poles an extension of the electricity price relief.
