    The ranking of safe cities. Rome ranks the worst. No fear in Poland

    Rome (Italy), Athens (Greece), and Marseille (France) are the most dangerous cities in Europe. According to the EU report “Quality of Life in European Cities 2023,” an increasing number of residents in Western European cities fear going out on the streets after dark. Attacks and thefts have become widespread.

    Among the least safe cities are also: Naples (Italy), Liege (Belgium), Istanbul (Turkey), Ostrava (Czech Republic), Miskolc (Hungary), and Sofia (Bulgaria).

    The safest cities for night walks are Copenhagen (Denmark), Oviedo (Spain), Ljubljana (Slovenia), and the Polish city of Białystok.
