The Slow End of the Poland 2050 Project. Hołownia Will Not Run for Party Chairmanship

The leader of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia, announced on Saturday that he will not run for the position of party chairman. He indicated that the right moment has come to pass the “baton in the relay.”

Elections for a New Poland 2050 Chairman Are Coming

During a press conference held after the meeting of Poland 2050’s National Council, Szymon Hołownia stated that he does not intend to seek the position of chairman of the party he founded. The election will take place in January.

“I founded this organization, I gave it everything I could and everything I knew how, and I will continue to give as much as necessary. But the role of a leader is also to say at some point, ‘I am passing the baton in the relay.’ I think that moment has come for me and for the organization,” said Hołownia.

He added that Poland 2050 would always have “a special place” in his heart as “one of his children,” after the foundations he had previously established. He declared that he would remain a member of the party. “Of course, I’m not going anywhere. I will continue to give advice, support, and help, and I will travel across Poland to meet with our local structures,” he said.

Hołownia emphasized that he is “passing the baton” two years before the parliamentary elections. He expressed hope that his colleagues will choose a new leader who “will responsibly and effectively lead Poland 2050 to victory in 2027.”

“I really like to look for people who are stronger and wiser than me, and not ‘kill them,’ as is customary in politics, just so they don’t threaten my position,” he said. He added that he is “not irreplaceable” and that he is “not looking for a substitute, but for a successor.”
