The Supreme Court has authorized a recount of votes in twelve electoral commissions, responding to protests indicating possible fraud and errors during the second round of the presidential elections.
Irregularities in Commissions Prompt Supreme Court Action
The Supreme Court decided to allow the votes to be recounted in certain polling stations. The decision pertains specifically to twelve commissions, where significant irregularities allegedly occurred during the counting of ballots after the presidential runoff.
According to the official statement from the Supreme Court dated June 12, 2025: “The Supreme Court is receiving electoral protests citing irregularities in the preparation of voting protocols and in the counting of votes in selected precinct electoral commissions.”
By a decision dated June 11, 2025, the Supreme Court approved the examination of ballot papers in twelve commissions, including those in Kraków, Gdańsk, Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Tarnów, and Mińsk Mazowiecki. The recount will be conducted with judicial assistance provided by district courts.
