The Trial of Ms Izabela – Today’s Hearing Cancelled. Owsiak’s People Did Not Show Up

Today’s hearing in the trial of Ms Izabela from Toruń was cancelled. The reason was the absence of witnesses linked to Jerzy Owsiak. Members of the Gazeta Polska Clubs came in large numbers to show their support for the harassed woman.

Toruń: Hearing in the Trial of Ms Izabela Cancelled

Another hearing was scheduled today in the trial of Ms Izabela from Toruń, who had posted an online negative comment about Jerzy Owsiak, head of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). Members of the Gazeta Polska Clubs arrived to show their support for the pensioner. However, the hearing did not take place because witnesses connected to Owsiak’s organisation did not appear. Janusz Życzkowski explained the details on air at TV Republika.

As he reported, “today’s hearing did not take place because witnesses linked to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) failed to appear. They had requested to testify remotely, but due to certain formalities and technical issues this was not possible today, so the court set a new date for 15 January. Members of the Gazeta Polska Clubs arrived at the District Court in Toruń with banners reading ‘Murem za panią Izabelą’ (‘Standing Firm with Ms Izabela’). They offered support to Ms Iza, who was shocked by this show of solidarity. It means a great deal to her”, he recounted.

He added that “the club members said they were there to support Ms Iza and to express their disagreement and protest against how people with conservative views are treated”. Ms Izabela also gave a brief statement to the Strefa Wolnego Słowa outlet.

“I am happy. I am no longer alone. Thank you, I love you!”, she said, thanking the Gazeta Polska Club members.

The Pensioner’s Trial for a Negative Post About Owsiak

In January, 66-year-old Izabela, a pensioner from Toruń, was detained in her home by the police – the operation involved the deputy city police chief and the head of the criminal division. The reason for the intervention was said to be her online comments, including alleged threats against Jerzy Owsiak, president of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP).

On 16 October, Owsiak testified as the aggrieved party and proposed ending the proceedings on the condition that the woman apologised. Ms Izabela apologised, but after she reminded him about his campaign on “fighting sepsis”, Owsiak withdrew his offer.
