The Tusk government will open border crossings with Belarus. A date has been set

Border crossings on the Poland-Belarus border will be opened, according to what Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday. Today, government spokesman Adam Szłapka stated that this is expected to happen around mid-November.

On Tuesday, the head of the 13 December coalition – Donald Tusk – informed that by November the government would be ready to open two border crossings with Belarus in the Podlaskie Voivodeship: in Bobrowniki and Kuźnica. He announced that the opening would be “on a trial basis,” after consultation with Lithuania.

The information shared by Tusk was addressed yesterday on social media by Mariusz Kamiński, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration at the time when the decision was made to close the Poland-Belarus border crossings.

A GIFT FROM TUSK’S TEAM TO THE LUKASHENKO REGIME! Mr. Tusk, you announced that the border crossings with Belarus would open in November. The closure of the Kuźnica crossing in 2021 was a reaction to Belarusian provocations related to illegal migration. The Bobrowniki crossing was closed a day after Andrzej Poczobut was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Provocations at the Belarusian border continue, and Poczobut is still in prison. What signal are you sending to Lukashenko and Putin? Your decision is politically foolish and morally wrong. You are showing weakness toward Poland’s enemies! – he wrote on x.com, attaching a video showing Polish officers struggling with aggressive migrants.

Szłapka confirmed the information about the border. Consultations with the Lithuanian side have taken place. Today, in an interview with the Polska Agencja Prasowa, government spokesman Adam Szłapka stated that the Prime Ministers of Poland and Lithuania – Tusk and Inga Ruginiene – had agreed that Poland would open its border crossings with Belarus “around mid-November.”
