    The visit of PM Mateusz Morawiecki to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

    Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met in Riyadh, capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. The politicians discussed current bilateral relations and further cooperation in the supply of oil to Poland in order to ensure energy security for our country.

    Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also presented the great potential that Poland has in terms of investment in future technologies and the export potential of Polish agriculture. During the talks, international and regional issues were also raised. The visit to Riyadh was the first by a Polish Prime Minister to Saudi Arabia in 11 years.

    Diversified oil supply sources are a pillar of our energy security

    The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s leaders in oil production and thus a strategic energy partner for Poland. Today, Poland no longer uses Russian oil or gas. Thanks to this important decision, we can now diversify our sources of supply of energy resources and fuels. Utilising multiple sources is a key element in ensuring energy security for Poland and continuity of supply regardless of the international situation.

    Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke to the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia about the scope of supply of resources in order to strengthen our cooperation. The talks highlighted, among other things, the importance of the stability of global oil markets and the reliability of supply for Poland.

    Poland underlines the importance of support for Ukraine

    During the meeting with Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the head of the Polish government touched on the topic of support for Ukraine. He thanked Saudi Arabia for its commitment to helping Ukraine and refugees. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also stressed the need for continued unwavering support for Ukraine at every level. Poland has played a key role in obtaining and delivering international aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression. During his visit to Riyadh, the head of the Polish government also met with the Ukrainian ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Anatoliy Petrenko.

    Innovative technologies and renewable energy sources are the future

    Poland is currently taking steps towards a Green Transformation. Saudi Arabia is also committed to climate initiatives. We see opportunities for significant investment in renewable energy technologies and many other innovations related to green growth.

    In February 2023, Poland generated as much as 24.3 GW of energy from renewable sources – this is over three times more than in 2015. Last year, the share of RES in the Polish energy sector was as high as 20.6% and we continue to increase it.

    The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is interested in investing in the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies in Poland. Together, we want to develop favourable investment conditions for both parties and undertake initiatives for sustainable development, clean energy and future technologies.

    Exports to Saudi Arabia represent new business opportunities for Polish farmers

    Another important part of the visit of the head of the Polish government to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was the presentation of the possibilities and prospects for the export of Polish food products to this country. We have a thriving agricultural sector and offer top quality agricultural products – both processed and unprocessed.

    Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki discussed further trade cooperation between our countries in this area. The export of Polish food products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a great opportunity for Polish farmers to enter a new market and attract new customers.
