The ‘Year 1920 on the Mińsk Area’ exhibition in the Senate, organized on the initiative of Senator Maria Koc shows the attitude of Poles towards the Polish-Bolshevik war. The exhibition was prepared by Secondary School named after Polish Educational Society in Mińsk Mazowiecki.
The exhibition concerns the heroism of the students of the Real Boy’s Gymnasium in Mińsk Mazowiecki in 1920. The students volunteered for General Haller’s army to defend Poland against the Bolshevik onslaught in a patriotic uprising of the whole nation. Two students of this school gave their lives in the fight for independence.
“This land has always been the gate to the east, the gate to Warsaw. So many battles have happened here and its inhabitants have made a great sacrifice for the independence of the country. It’s good that young people remember this. This is important for shaping a sense of identity.”,
noted Senator Maria Koc.
Senator Maria Koc added that the school from the very beginning educated young people in the spirit of patriotism.
“No wonder that the students, after the outbreak of the war, joined the army and decided to fight for free Poland. They were brought up to fight for freedom.”
she added.
According to the County Executive of Mińsk, the exhibition in the Senate is a beautiful lesson of history and patriotic education.
“Thanks to the kindness of the Marshal and the Senate leaders, we are able to present the history of the Mińsk region for the third time.”,
added Antoni Jan Tarczyński.
“I am grateful that young people have been so actively involved in this project. It is important not to forget the past while living in the present. I believe that this is not the last presentation of our Secondary School’s achievements in the Senate.”,
added Antoni Jan Tarczyński, the County Executive of Mińsk.
