On Monday, a hearing will be held at the District Court for Warsaw-Śródmieście in a case brought by left-wing activist Andżelika Domańska against Robert Bąkiewicz. The case concerns an incident that occurred during one of the protests held as part of the “Women’s Strike” movement.
In 2020, following changes to Poland’s abortion laws, left-wing activists organized demonstrations across the country, with Warsaw witnessing the most heated events. During these often vulgar protests, some demonstrators even damaged religious sites. Many individuals stepped in to defend churches—among them, Robert Bąkiewicz.
During an incident outside the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw, the president of the Independence Party, together with the police, escorted one of the activists from the premises. The woman later filed charges against him, alleging assault. Bąkiewicz firmly believes the case is politically motivated.
“Monday will mark yet another episode of repression against those who had the courage to stand up for the Church and for Polish values,” he wrote on X. He denied assaulting the woman and claimed that “it was she—along with a group of provocateurs—who disrupted the Holy Mass and attacked both worshippers and church defenders.”
“Today, the system portrays her as the victim and tries to frame me,” he said.
“This case is purely political revenge for my patriotic activity. Domańska is known, among other things, for dismantling border barriers together with Bartosz Kramek, and there are strong indications of her potential involvement in actions threatening the security of the Polish state—including the smuggling of migrants,” he continued, adding that “there is even speculation behind the scenes about possible cooperation with Russian interests.”
Bąkiewicz called on all those who witnessed the incident to come forward. “Every testimony could be important in court,” he noted.
He also invited all supporters and friends to attend the court session on Monday. “Your presence will be a sign that we are not alone. This is not just my case—this is a fight for truth, faith, and freedom,” he declared, also sharing a video of the incident in question.
