The European Athletics Indoor Championships are behind us. Poland’s representatives in Istanbul recorded another very good performance at the event. Poland’s women’s 4x400m relay team, Piotr Lisek and Jakub Szymanski also won medals in Sunday’s finals.
On Friday, the inaugural European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul were held, and Adrianna Sułek put on an astonishing show in the pentathlon, breaking personal bests in nearly every competition.
Ewa Swoboda achieved her third podium finish at the event, coming in second with a time of 7.09, beaten only by Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland who completed the race at 7.00.
On Saturday, Sofia Ennaoui and Anna Kiełbasińska both earned bronze medals. Ennaoui was victorious in the 1,500-metre run, while Kiełbasińska finished behind two Dutch athletes in the 400-metre run.
Kiełbasińska began Sunday with a victory in the 4×400 metres relay alongside Marika Popowicz-Drapała, Alicja Wrona-Kutrzepa, and Anna Palys.
Piotr Lisek continued his impressive run at the European Athletics Indoor Championships by securing the position of European vice-champion in the pole vault. He has now repeated his success from four years ago and has been on the podium for five consecutive events.
The championships concluded with a victory of 20-year-old Jakub Szymański who earned a silver medal in the 60 metres hurdles.
In the points classification, in turn, Polish representatives placed sixth.
