“This festival of lies and manipulation has gone too far. Undermining the results of the presidential election and diminishing Karol Nawrocki’s victory violates the integrity of the legal order,” said Rafał Leśkiewicz, spokesperson for the Institute of National Remembrance.
Claims of “Rigged Elections” from the “Silni Razem” (Strong Together) Movement
For several days now, the “Silni Razem” (Strong Together) movement has been spreading claims that the presidential election was allegedly rigged. At the same time, a large-scale campaign has been launched to file electoral protests with the Supreme Court.
Roman Giertych recently asked legal experts whether it would be possible for the National Assembly to vote for a recess—lasting, for example, a month—as a way to prevent Karol Nawrocki from assuming office.
Rafał Leśkiewicz, spokesperson for the Institute of National Remembrance, addressed these actions by members of the ruling political camp on the X platform: “It’s time to say ENOUGH! This festival of lies and manipulation has gone too far. Undermining the results of the presidential election and devaluing Karol Nawrocki’s victory violates the integrity of the legal order,” he stated.
In his view, “No one should place narrow partisan interests above the orderly principles of Polish democracy. The law must be upheld—not circumvented.”
“Unfortunately, this must be consistently emphasized, as for some it is not self-evident. And it should be. After all, has anything changed? We live in a state governed by the rule of law, don’t we? That is both a minimal and a fundamental standard. Let us not be misled by those who claim it is ‘just the minimum.’ Because in the democracy for which Poles fought during 45 years of communist oppression, it means everything.” – he concluded.
