All MPs sitting on the special services committee, except Włodzimierz Czarzasty, applied for access to “top secret” information. What is more, Czarzasty took part only in votes and was practically absent from substantive meetings – according to conversations Niezalezna.pl held with several members of the committee. So what was he taking extra money from the Sejm for?
Czarzasty sat on the committee from November 2023 to December 2025. During that time, he did not submit an application for access to “top secret” information. As Niezalezna.pl has learned, he was the only MP serving on the committee since 2023 or 2024 who failed to do so. All the others received security clearance.
Niezalezna.pl asked several MPs (who wished to remain anonymous – ed.) what Czarzasty’s “work” on the special services committee looked like.
“He showed up only for votes. We usually vote on opinions, resolutions, or regulations – this does not require access to top secret information. I do not remember him ever taking part in substantive meetings or any parts of them,” claims one of the MPs.
Other MPs remembered Czarzasty’s “activity” in a similar way.
“He practically never spoke at all. I do not recall any initiative of his, any questions, virtually any statements. Indeed, when you ask me, he only showed up for votes. I explained it to myself by the fact that he was simultaneously a Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, an important figure in coalition talks, so he had other duties,” recounts one of them.
Stories that Czarzasty would leave at critical moments, when “top secret” topics began to be discussed, are untrue.
“He did not have to leave anywhere, because he simply did not come. He showed up for votes when it was known that this problem no longer existed,” notes one of the committee members.
Extra cash
In the Sejm, MPs sitting on the special services committee are particularly privileged. They receive a bonus amounting to 10 percent of their salary for participating in its meetings. This comes to about PLN 1,400 more per month.
“Was Czarzasty only after the money? Because why else would he expose himself to the current situation, in which he has to explain why he did not apply for access while at the same time having strange connections? Maybe he wanted to be too clever?” wonders one of his former colleagues from the committee.
