A 33-year-old woman was found drifting towards Sweden on an inflatable mattress. The unwitting tourist, vacationing on an unguarded beach in Krynica Morska, Pomeranian Voivodeship, was already 400 meters from shore when spotted by a joint patrol of police and border guards.
The patrol officers noticed the mattress floating at a considerable distance from the beach. Concerned about a possible tragedy or someone in need of help, they approached the drifting object. Upon reaching it, they discovered the woman, who seemed to have just awakened, unaware of the potential danger she was in.
Apologizing for drifting so far, the woman explained that she did not realize the gravity of her situation. The officers informed her of the risks associated with floating such a distance from the shore on an inflatable mattress. Following the explanation, they safely escorted her back to the beach.
