In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the capture of the PAST building by Warsaw Uprising insurgents, the Archives of New Records (Archiwum Akt Nowych) have launched a special website highlighting the remnants of the 1944 uprising. The Warsaw Uprising left a profound legacy of courage and responsibility, still visible today in the city’s streets and buildings.
Documenting a Wounded Capital
For over 20 years, AAN has been documenting the remnants of wartime battles through the project Wounded Capital. The recently launched online gallery features a selection of photographs from 2004 to 2024, showcasing places that bear the scars of the Uprising. The 2024 edition emphasizes both well-preserved historical sites and those that are rapidly deteriorating, calling for public awareness and preservation efforts.
