In a regrettable incident on the road between Białowieża and Hajnówka, two bison fell victim to a collision with a military truck. The captain of the Military Gendarmerie Unit in Lublin, Iwo Sawa, provided details, stating that the sober driver and passengers remained unharmed.
Fatal Encounter with Bison
Around 3 a.m., a seven-member bison herd was near the road when two of them unexpectedly darted beneath a military truck. Despite the driver’s attempts to brake, a tragic collision occurred, resulting in the death of one bison at the scene, and the other had to be euthanized.
Sober Driver, Unscathed Passengers
Captain Iwo Sawa confirmed the driver’s sobriety and assured that none of the seven passengers suffered injuries. The military vehicle, while showing a few dents, emerged from the incident unscathed.
