“To say this is unprofessional is to say nothing at all,” wrote Minister Marcin Przydacz about the embarrassing situation surrounding Donald Trump’s letter to Karol Nawrocki. Before the Polish president received the letter from the American leader, submitted to the Polish embassy in Washington, its contents had already leaked to the media.
American leader Donald Trump addressed a letter to Polish President Karol Nawrocki, which was sent to Poland through diplomatic mail. However, before it reached the Presidential Chancellery, pro-government media were already reporting on its contents, in the style of: “we know what’s in it.”
“The letter from U.S. President Donald Trump to President Karol Nawrocki was delivered to the presidential side without any delay and in accordance with the required procedure,” claims the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yet it is evident that some media outlets were given priority. The letter reportedly only reached the Presidential Chancellery around noon today.
Marcin Przydacz, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland and Head of the International Policy Bureau, made no attempt to conceal his outrage.
“Imagine, ladies and gentlemen, that you are about to receive a letter from an important person. A postman collects it from the post office, reads it, passes word of its dispatch to the media, and then forgets to deliver it to you in due time. Then journalists start asking you what you think about the letter. Absurd, isn’t it? This is what the handling of the correspondence looked like, the one that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Washington embassy were supposed to pass on to the Presidential Chancellery. To say this was unprofessional is to say nothing at all,”
commented Minister Przydacz.
