While announcing that he was organising Campus Polska in Olsztyn, Rafał Trzaskowski also sought to take a swipe at President Karol Nawrocki, who recently invited young people to Jurata for a series of meetings. Rafał Leśkiewicz, however, reminded the mayor of Warsaw of several facts.
Another misfire by Trzaskowski
Sport, concerts, numerous attractions and, above all, discussions about Poland’s future will be the main features of an event in Jurata to which President Karol Nawrocki is inviting young people. The event will take place on August 29–30. Registration has just opened, the president announced on X.
According to Rafał Trzaskowski, the president had copied his idea of holding Campus Polska meetings. He alluded to this while announcing this year’s edition of the event in Olsztyn.
“A few years ago, we decided to engage in dialogue with young people. Not because it was fashionable, but because it was necessary. And that is why we are continuing to do so. Today, more and more politicians are reaching the same conclusion. That is good news. Campus has clearly proved inspirational. Because talking to young people never goes out of fashion, even if some only discover this after five years. Still, better late than never. Discussions about Poland and Europe. Debates. Concerts. Sport by the lake. Sound familiar?”
Trzaskowski wrote on X.
In response, Rafał Leśkiewicz reminded the mayor of Warsaw how Karol Nawrocki had already been engaging young people for years.
“The perennial candidate, the ‘master’ of the final stretch, is characteristically winking in the direction of the President of the Republic of Poland. He apparently failed to notice that in Warsaw, the city of which he is mayor, the Institute of National Remembrance, then headed by Karol Nawrocki, organised the National Remembrance Congress in 2023, a public event aimed primarily at young people. It attracted more than 10,000 participants. In subsequent years, similar congresses were held in several cities, including Rzeszów, Poznań and Gdańsk, drawing thousands of school and university students. Before Rafał Trzaskowski had even thought of Campus Polska, Karol Nawrocki, as director of the Museum of the Second World War, established a Youth Council affiliated with the institution. Last autumn, he also established the Youth Council under the President of the Republic of Poland. Those are the facts. Once again, your attempt has fallen flat. I know you are used to it, but it is still painful to watch,”
Leśkiewicz stressed.
