Rafał Trzaskowski’s campaign team prohibited politicians from participating in TV Republika programs during the election campaign. That this was a deliberate strategy was confirmed today by Paweł Lech (KO), who appeared on a TV Republika program for the first time in six months.
Paweł Lech, a Warsaw city councilor and representative of Civic Platform (PO), appeared as a guest on TV Republika after a long absence. He had not appeared on the Free Speech Zone network for nearly half a year.
Why? Host Monika Borkowska asked him this question live on air, and Councilor Lech answered candidly.
“I won’t hide it — I not only supported but actively backed Rafał Trzaskowski’s candidacy and did everything I could to help him win. I believe he would be the best president for Poland,” he stated.
“Given that such a strategy and mode of operation was adopted by Rafał Trzaskowski’s campaign team, and that he made the decision not to participate in certain broadcasts or programs on TV Republika or wPolsce24, I could not act against that strategy or those actions. As a result, I decided that during the campaign, I would not appear on your station,” said the Warsaw councilor.
With this, Paweł Lech confirmed that the boycott of TV Republika was a conscious decision made by Rafał Trzaskowski’s campaign team — Trzaskowski himself did not attend debates on TV Republika, and his team barred KO politicians from participating in the network’s programs. Journalists from the station were also denied access to press conferences and Council of Ministers sessions; courts have repeatedly ordered the prosecution to investigate these matters.
