“Prime Minister Donald Tusk should not speak about the President of the United States in this way. By doing so, he insulted the American nation,” said Karol Nawrocki at the conference after his meeting with the President of Finland. He also assured that regardless “of this imprudence to which Donald Tusk provoked President Trump”, Nawrocki would do everything possible to safeguard Polish-American relations.
When asked earlier about his personal relations with Donald Trump, the President of Finland stated that they are one of the pillars of diplomacy. Diplomatic relations are usually built on two pillars. The first is history, values, interests, geographical proximity, and alliances. I have the impression that relations between Finland and the USA are strong and have always been strong throughout history (…) The second pillar is personal relations. I believe that this element is often underestimated. It doesn’t matter which world leader I am talking to – what matters is to establish close relations with them – emphasized Alexander Stubb. Referring to this statement, a TV Republika reporter asked the presidents about Donald Tusk’s infamous remark, in which he called Trump a Russian agent.
“Prime Minister Donald Tusk should not speak about the President of the United States in this way. By doing so, he insulted the American nation, because this is how Americans view their president. Such a thing should not have happened. I considered it an imprudent act of a Polish politician, harmful to Poland,” assessed Karol Nawrocki. “Fortunately, in Poland and in the United States there is a kind of consensus that it is the president who represents Poland in the United States. And I will do everything, and I am already doing everything, to take care of our relations. Regardless of this imprudence to which Donald Tusk provoked President Trump,” added the Polish president.
