“The state is acting patiently, consistently, and in accordance with the law,” Donald Tusk announced on social media, referring to the two-year-long “settlements.” His statement was met without enthusiasm from supporters as well as critics of the ruling coalition. The comments quickly filled with mockery.
Just before the upcoming holidays, the authorities will again turn their attention to former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro. Investigators recently decided to secure the politician’s assets and then filed a request for his arrest. The court hearing has been scheduled for December 22 – on the eve of Christmas.
The upcoming court session – still far from any final, legally binding ruling – is, according to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, “the decisive phase of the settlements.”
Yesterday, officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau entered the headquarters of the “Lux Veritatis” Foundation, run by Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, also in connection with the investigation concerning the Justice Fund.
These actions were enough for the Prime Minister to boast about “progress.”
“The settlements are entering a decisive phase; the state is acting patiently, consistently, and in accordance with the law,” Tusk insists.
“There are no more sacred cows. The innocent have nothing to fear. The guilty – very much so,”
the head of government declared.
Comments quickly poured in – from both sympathizers and opponents of those in power. They share a common theme: from every side come jeers that similar assurances have been made for two years.
