“Tusk Equals Bankruptcy”: Błaszczak Slams Government Over Finances and Fuel Prices

“Tusk equals bankruptcy. (…) Diesel already costs over eight zlotys, 95-octane over seven zlotys. Tusk is not reacting,” said Mariusz Błaszczak on TV Republika. The politician referred to the state of public finances, rising fuel prices, and a draft bill to reduce fuel taxes submitted by Przemysław Czarnek, which – as he indicated – “was frozen by Włodzimierz Czarzasty.”

Mariusz Błaszczak, speaking on TV Republika, addressed the condition of public finances and current fuel prices in Poland. In his view, the government’s current actions do not respond to economic challenges.

“We are dealing with a severe crisis of our country’s public finances. Tusk equals bankruptcy,” the politician said. He also pointed to the situation in healthcare and other areas of state functioning. “The healthcare system is an example of this, but there are also many other sectors,” he added.

Błaszczak also referred to fuel prices.

“Just look at petrol prices at fuel stations. Diesel already costs over eight zlotys, 95-octane over seven zlotys. Tusk is not reacting,” he stated.

He recalled the actions of the previous government during the fuel crisis following Russia’s attack on Ukraine. “At that time, the Law and Justice (PiS) government reduced VAT and cut excise duty,” he noted.

The politician also informed about a legislative initiative.

“Professor Przemysław Czarnek submitted a bill to reduce fuel taxation. This bill was frozen by Włodzimierz Czarzasty,” he said.

In his opinion, current political disputes are of a substitute nature. “These attacks are a form of spectacle, a smokescreen for the incompetence of Donald Tusk, and the crisis of the Polish state brought about by the December 13 coalition government,” he added.
