Several hours have passed since the announcement of Karol Nawrocki’s electoral victory, yet Prime Minister Donald Tusk has remained silent. In contrast, Rafał Trzaskowski, Nawrocki’s main opponent, has issued a public statement. “I apologize that we did not achieve victory together,” wrote the Civic Coalition (KO) candidate.

As of 5:20 a.m., the outcome of the second round of the presidential election became clear—Karol Nawrocki emerged as the winner. Shortly after 8:00 a.m., the National Electoral Commission officially confirmed the victory of the candidate endorsed by Law and Justice (PiS). Congratulations poured in from across the globe, including from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. However, the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, has continued to refrain from making any public comment.

After 11:00 a.m., the defeated KO candidate, Rafał Trzaskowski, addressed the public.

“I would like to thank everyone for their vote. I campaigned for a vision of Poland that we could build together—a strong, secure, honest, and compassionate nation. A modern Poland in which all citizens can pursue their goals and aspirations. I am grateful to everyone who supported this vision,” Trzaskowski wrote. He also extended his thanks to voters for their engagement during the campaign.

“I also wish to express my sincere apologies for not being able to convince a majority of citizens to support my vision for Poland. I regret that we were not able to secure this victory together,” added the Mayor of Warsaw.

He concluded by congratulating Karol Nawrocki:

“This victory entails a great responsibility, especially in such challenging times and given such a closely contested result. I hope you will keep that in mind,” he wrote.
