“We will play as the opponent allows. If the opponent wants to fight, then we will fight. I believe the office of the president, the entire administration of Karol Nawrocki, is quite well prepared to enter this dispute. I would also like to say that we are not the ones setting the conditions of war,” said Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), on the High Voltage program on TV Republika.
Tusk’s threats towards President Nawrocki
Prime Minister Donald Tusk was recently asked how he envisions working with the new president, Karol Nawrocki. The politician stated that “he had the pleasure, and sometimes it was a very serious challenge, to work with many presidents, practically since the beginning of the Third Republic of Poland”. He noted that in his role as prime minister, he had so far worked with three presidents, and Karol Nawrocki would be the fourth. A threat also came from his lips.
“Wherever the new president wants to help, I will welcome his willingness to cooperate with open arms. Wherever he wants to obstruct, he will see what the constitutional rule means – namely, who governs the country – and I will be very consistent in this matter, and if necessary, also ruthless” – said Tusk.
The prime minister’s words were commented on by Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the National Security Bureau, in the High Voltage program on TV Republika.
“We will play as the opponent allows. If the opponent wants to fight, then we will fight. I believe the office of the president, the entire administration of Karol Nawrocki, is quite well prepared to enter this dispute or battle. I would also like to say that we are not the ones setting the conditions of war. Those conditions are imposed on us by the government side. We seek agreement, those areas – especially concerning security issues – where we can meet. The last few days or even hours have shown that even in these matters, some disruptions can occur,” he said.
When asked how the president and his associates would respond to government actions, he replied: “It is too early to say which path will be chosen. We will try to effectively defend against and bypass this insane policy of ultras gathered around the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM) or around Prime Minister Donald Tusk himself, who, on the issue of security – which he himself says should unite us – is trying to destroy the elementary agreement between the head of state and the government, which should exist”.
“We agree that there is a Russian threat, that there is migration pressure, that there is a need to modernize the army and to seal the borders. In all these areas, and many others, President Karol Nawrocki is willing to cooperate, and he says so. Karol Nawrocki did not come to fight with the government, but to deal with the matters he spoke about during the election campaign, to implement his Plan 21. War or conflict is the result of resistance to allowing the president to implement his program” – he declared.
Attack on Prof. Cenckiewicz. “I’m not saying Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz is doing it”
Prof. Cenckiewicz also spoke about an attack on himself. Let us recall: on August 5, the spokesperson for the minister-coordinator of special services, Jacek Dobrzyński, stated that “The Chancellery of the Prime Minister has filed cassation appeals to the Supreme Administrative Court against the judgments of the Provincial Administrative Court (WSA) of June 17 this year regarding the revocation of security clearances for access to classified information for Mr. Sławomir Cenckiewicz”.
Believing that filing the cassation appeal was sufficient, Dobrzyński stated that, under the Act on the Protection of Classified Information, “Mr. Sławomir Cenckiewicz does not have access to classified information”.
Attorney Bartosz Lewandowski quickly reacted to this revelation, pointing out that “Professor Cenckiewicz has access to classified information”.
“You need to do a better legal analysis” – the lawyer addressed the December 13 coalition.
Prof. Cenckiewicz noted that such attacks are carried out primarily by “the circle gathered around Prime Minister Tusk, which apparently does not want good cooperation with the president”.
“I’m not saying Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz is doing it. […] Resistance is even being put up regarding what the shape of President Nawrocki’s administration should be. This is a complete misunderstanding. For all the voices coming from Marshal Hołownia and his party, and from the People’s Party and Kosiniak-Kamysz, as well as many other politicians, saying that it is the president who chooses his associates – I sincerely thank you. This should be the standard. We are in a situation where obvious declarations become some kind of exception on the Polish political scene,” he stated.
