“They are still trying to destroy us, only now it is decidedly more difficult for them with President Karol Nawrocki, because under the law it cannot be done at this moment,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz, head of the station, on TV Republika. He was commenting on a statement by MP Janusz Kowalski, who said that before the presidential election, the December 13 coalition had attempted to shut down TV Republika.
MP Janusz Kowalski revealed yesterday that in May of last year, it was possible to stop a plan by Donald Tusk and Rafał Trzaskowski that envisaged the closure of TV Republika.
“In May last year, illegal migration was stopped. This was achieved thanks to social resistance and TV Republika. The plan of Rafał Trzaskowski and Donald Tusk involved shutting down TV Republika. On May 9, Donald Tusk had the idea of bringing Mr. Maciej Świrski, the head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), before the State Tribunal during a parliamentary vote, in order to close TV Republika even before the elections,”
the politician revealed.
He added that “fortunately, they did not succeed thanks to the opposition, thanks to Law and Justice.”
“That was their plan,”
the politician emphasized.
President of TV Republika Tomasz Sakiewicz asked about MP Janusz Kowalski’s statement that he deserves considerable credit in this matter “because he was close to these events and mobilized MPs from various parliamentary groups.”
“Among others, Szymon Hołownia’s party did not agree to hold a vote before the elections, rightly assuming that interfering with the media system just before elections is very dangerous for public debate,”
Tomasz Sakiewicz added.
“We were supposed not to exist; they were to switch off our signal and then say after the elections that everything had been done lege artis,”
he said.
