Tusk’s march to take place in the capital city, additional transport will hit the streets. ‘Trzaskowski uses office to benefit PO’

“This is another example of when Mayor Trzaskowski uses his office to benefit his political party. Now, additional funds are set to finance transportation for the party’s march in Warsaw,” said Dariusz Figura, the leader of PiS council members. Nearly 100 more buses and 60 more trams than usual on Sundays will hit the streets.

The March in the Capital City

On Sunday, October 1st, at noon, the Million Hearts March organized by the Civic Platform (PO) will set off from Dmowski Roundabout.

The Warsaw Public Transport Authority stated that from around 9 AM to 7 PM, subways and trams will run more frequently, and additional vehicles will be deployed to handle the routes. Nearly 100 more buses and 60 more trams than usual on Sundays will be in service.

Metro trains will run during peak hours as on regular weekdays. Trams will operate according to the Saturday schedule. Additional trains of the Fast City Rail will also be deployed.

    City Aids the Party

This information was commented on by Dariusz Figura, the leader of PiS council members in Warsaw.

He pointed out that currently, there are two massive campaigns even on buses.

“One is ‘We’re changing Warsaw for You,’ which is boasting about achievements that, by the way, do not exist, and the campaign ‘Your Vote Counts’ in a city where the voter turnout is one of the highest in Poland,” he said.

He emphasized that now, additional funds are set to finance transportation for the party’s march in Warsaw.

“Here arises a question. Were similar actions taken for organizing other party events? And when it comes to the Independence March, there were never such special actions related to access to transportation. And that was also a mass event,” Figura added.

    City Hall Responds

Monika Beuth, the spokesperson for the city hall, explained that if organizers declare the participation of a million people in the march, the city has a responsibility to approach it responsibly.

“Such an event has never happened in the capital before, so we’re talking about a significant challenge, and we are preparing for various scenarios. Safety is crucial; the police are responsible for the participants’ safety, but matters related to transportation, the movement of so many people, are also very important,” she stated.

She added that’s why the city emphasized cooperation with services, good coordination, and the best possible public transport on that day, knowing that many more passengers would use it.”
