Investigative journalist for TV Republika, Piotr Nisztor, has been summoned to the prosecutor’s office as a suspect. “Twelve years ago, when I exposed the wiretapping scandal, I already knew that Donald Tusk and his people would pursue me for the rest of my life,” he commented.
Piotr Nisztor, head of the investigative department at TV Republika, issued a statement regarding the summons he received to appear before prosecutors as a suspect. He added that the basis for the summons was allegedly accusations based on excerpts from recordings published by the Onet.pl portal. Nisztor emphasized that on the date indicated by the media, as well as before and after that date, he was not present at Orlen headquarters, where the alleged conversation was said to have taken place.
Piotr Nisztor once again addressed the matter during a broadcast on TV Republika.
“Donald Tusk and his entire team are certainly not great admirers of my journalistic work. Twelve years ago, when I exposed the wiretapping scandal, I already knew that Donald Tusk and his people would pursue me for the rest of my life (…) From that moment on, I became Public Enemy No. 1 to be ‘taken out,’”
Nisztor said.
“I was under surveillance 24 hours a day for more than a year,” recalled the investigative journalist associated with the Free Speech Zone media group.
“Waldemar Żurek personally ordered that charges be brought against me. What charges? I don’t know. The document I received does not specify what the charges are,” Nisztor stated. “Today, I am the person who is a problem for Tusk. What we are exposing on TV Republika is a problem for him. These forms of repression take many shapes, one of them is various lawsuits or criminal charges,” he added.
“Donald Tusk has placed an order with the prosecutor’s office against TV Republika; he has placed an order against Piotr Nisztor,” he continued, while assuring viewers: “These actions will not intimidate me in any way.”
Nisztor also pointed out what he described as an interesting coincidence concerning the timing of the summons.
“For the first time in a long while, I am leaving for a two-week vacation. And just before the vacation, by sheer coincidence, I received a summons as a suspect,”
he said.
