United Cup 2023 is ongoing and Polish tennis players are more than awesome! Poland won Group B and will face Italy in Brisbane City Final tomorrow.
Thanks to Magda Linette’s victory over the higher ranked Jil Teichmann, Poland is at the first place in group B of the United Cup. She also improved her points in the WTA ranking.
On Monday, Świątek won against Bencic 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), and Daniel Michalski lost to Huesler 3-6, 2-6.
Then, on Tuesday Hurkacz won against Wawrinka 7:6 (7-5), 6:4.
Today, the decisive third point was scored by Magda Linette, who defeated Jil Teichmann 5:7, 6:4, 6:1.
Thanks to the previous victories, Poland was sure of winning against Switzerland before the duel of mixed doubles.
For this reason, there was a last-minute change of the Polish representatives. Originally, Świątek and Hurkacz were supposed to play, but there was no need to strain them.
