United Cup: Hubert Hurkacz gives Team Poland a 2-1 lead

    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

It was not an easy match for Hubert Hurkacz, but most importantly a victorious one. The Pole, after a fierce encounter, defeated Stan Wawrinka 7:6, 6:4 and won the second point for the Polish national team in the United Cup.

Hurkacz, unfortunately, had some problems with his first serve from the start. However, that did not stop him from quickly jumping out to a two-game lead.

Wawrinka, however, did not give up and significantly improved his game. There was no more loss of serve and the tie-break decided everything. In it, the 25-year-old Pole was more effective and won 7:5.

The second set did not start any easier. Both made some mistakes, but the seventh game was the crucial one. Stan Wawrinka was unable to make up for the loss. Eventually, he had to accept defeat after a perfect service game by the Pole.

The Polish national team leads after three games 2:1. Now, Magda Linette plays against Jil Teichmann.
