Unknown thread in the Polnord case. Jabłoński: “I will file a motion to initiate an investigation against Giertych”

“I intend today to file a motion with the National Prosecutor’s Office to initiate proceedings concerning Roman Giertych, so that evidentiary actions described by the media are carried out – there is talk that Roman Giertych’s wife was not questioned, as well as several other individuals, and that no request was made to Liechtenstein for evidence or legal assistance,” said today Law and Justice (PiS) MP Paweł Jabłoński.

Nearly PLN 1 million was transferred in 2013 from a company established in Liechtenstein to the account of Roman Giertych’s law firm. The management board of the entity from Vaduz included, among others, an employee of the office of the current Civic Platform (KO) MP and a Russian specialist in setting up companies in tax havens. As revealed by journalists from wp.pl and money.pl – the transfers to Giertych’s law firm were allegedly handled by his associate, Sebastian J. “Foka”. This thread has never been examined by the prosecution.

Today on TV Republika, Law and Justice (PiS) MP Paweł Jabłoński admitted that “the investigation in this case was conducted very poorly” and “certain mistakes were made that allowed Giertych to get away with it”. He added, “I would like to point out one thing. In the Code of Criminal Procedure, we have Article 327, paragraph 2, which states that if new circumstances or new evidence emerge that were not known during the proceedings before they were discontinued, then those proceedings should be reopened. This is today the duty of the prosecution, whose head is Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek. I have no illusions that there is any willingness here to harm Giertych”, he assessed.

He added that today he intends to submit to the National Prosecutor’s Office a motion “to initiate proceedings and to carry out evidentiary actions described by the media – there is talk that Roman Giertych’s wife was not questioned, as well as several other individuals, and that no request was made to Liechtenstein for evidence or legal assistance, which means there are grounds to reopen the investigation and Roman Giertych should again face charges in this case”.

“A criminal case is underway against more than a dozen other individuals, who have been charged on the basis of the same evidence. Roman Giertych is probably the only one whose case was discontinued. In this situation, when there is evidence, there are grounds to reopen the proceedings, also against Roman Giertych”, said Paweł Jabłoński.

At the same time, he expressed doubts that the current parliamentary majority would decide to lift Giertych’s immunity.

At the beginning of 2025, journalists from Wirtualna Polska obtained details of the decision to discontinue the proceedings, which indicate that “Giertych played only a service role”, while decisions were primarily made by businessman Ryszard K. and Giertych’s associate, Sebastian J. “Foka”. As early as November 2024, “Gazeta Polska Codziennie” reported that the National Prosecutor’s Office had allegedly suggested to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin that the Giertych case be discontinued.
