Was Hołownia supposed to stage a coup at Tusk’s request? “This is a shocking matter”

“The Prime Minister of a democratic state is, in fact, inciting the Speaker of the Sejm to carry out a coup d’état, to overthrow democracy in Poland, that is, to reject the democratic verdict of the citizens expressed in general elections through the election of a new president. This is the consequence of the sense of impunity that this team feels,” said PiS MP Jacek Sasin in the program Wysokie Napięcie aired on TV Republika, referring to recently disclosed information about a proposal allegedly made by Donald Tusk to Szymon Hołownia.

Tusk’s Proposal

Journalists from Polsat News revealed on their podcast that they had obtained information about a supposed proposal Donald Tusk made to Szymon Hołownia. It concerned an attempt to prevent the swearing-in of Karol Nawrocki, who had been elected president. However, the Speaker of the Sejm reportedly refused to participate in this endeavour.

Meanwhile, Katarzyna Gójska, in the program Rewolwer broadcast on TV Republika, emphasised that journalists from that station had been warning of such a scenario for months. “It has been visible for several months how successive steps were being prepared,” she stressed. She explained that it was an entire, meticulously planned process.

PiS MP Jacek Sasin, appearing again in Wysokie Napięcie on TV Republika, emphasised that the disclosed information was “a shocking matter.”

“The Prime Minister of a democratic state is, in fact, inciting the Speaker of the Sejm to carry out a coup d’état, to overthrow democracy in Poland, that is, to reject the democratic verdict of the citizens expressed in general elections through the election of a new president. This, unfortunately, is what we are dealing with today, and it is the consequence of the sense of impunity this team has felt over the last year and a half. They believed they could do anything. That they could refuse to recognise constitutional bodies of the state. The support from the European Union, which in itself is a scandal and contradicts the very idea of the European Union, which was supposed to be a guardian of democracy, but today is a guardian of keeping left-liberal forces in power in Europe,”

he stated.

He added that if the alleged coercion of Marshal Hołownia had succeeded, “it would have led to the abolition of democracy in Poland. Europe knows many examples of such an evolution from democracy to dictatorship, all in the spotlight and under the guise of democratic procedures.”

“Mr. Marshal has repeatedly stated that he would be a guardian of democracy. If such a conversation took place, then Mr. Hołownia, this is the moment when you should show whether you stand for democracy or whether you accept this kind of situation. Or perhaps you want to have leverage over Donald Tusk in the form that if Tusk brings up your ties to Collegium Humanum, you’ll testify that Tusk urged you to stage a coup, which carries a very severe penalty,”

Sasin said.

Stanisław Żaryn, advisor to President Andrzej Duda, on the other hand, stated that reports of such a conversation, in his view, are credible.

“This fits into a scenario of attempting to destabilise Poland following Karol Nawrocki’s victory in the election. I have the impression that at this moment, perhaps Szymon Hołownia has realised that he is being persuaded to cross a red line, after which there is no return to normal political life, because the situation will spiral out of control,”

he declared.
