“We were closing the border to people who wanted to open it. They are closing the border to people who want to know whether the border is well-protected. We defended the border, and they want to hide the fact that they didn’t—or did so poorly. That is the difference,” stated PiS MP Mateusz Morawiecki, referring to Donald Tusk’s decision to classify border crossings with Germany as elements of critical infrastructure.
Tusk’s decision regarding border crossings with Germany
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that all border crossings with Germany have been designated as critical infrastructure. In practice, this means, among other things, a ban on photographing these sites, which poses an obstacle for individuals documenting incidents of illegal border crossings involving German authorities.
PiS MP Mateusz Morawiecki commented on the Prime Minister’s decision in a post published on platform X:
“There are claims that the Civic Coalition (KO) government, by banning photography and using the law on ‘critical infrastructure’ to conceal what is really happening at the border, is acting just like the PiS government. Nothing could be further from the truth,” he wrote.
He then recalled that the United Right government had restricted access to the border zone for the following groups:
- Agents of influence working for Putin and Lukashenko.
- MPs Szczerba, Joński, Jachira, and Sterczewski – here, no explanation is needed.
- Suspicious NGOs funded from abroad, supporting human smuggling and acting against the Polish national interest.
- Activists spreading fake news about refugees floating down the Bug River for six days and non-existent children left in the forest.
- Actors and celebrities who insult the Polish uniform.
“The logic behind these actions was very simple, and the intentions – obvious. When hundreds of dangerous men attack the Polish border with stones, battering rams, cleavers, axes – the last thing needed at the border are loud, hysterical activists and politicians bringing shopping bags of food for the aggressors!” he emphasised.
Morawiecki then pointed out who the KO government is now closing the border to:
- To the media that expose abuses of power.
- To Poles defending their homes.
- To citizens who want to HELP the services in fighting illegal immigration.
“We were closing the border to people who wanted to open it. They are closing the border to people who want to know whether the border is well-protected. We defended the border, and they want to hide the fact that they didn’t—or did so poorly. That is the difference,” Morawiecki concluded.
