There will be no 0% loan; the government’s housing program will be presented in the first quarter of next year, Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk announced on Thursday. What is the coalition’s plan for housing policy? It’s unclear if there’s any plan at all. The minister warned that “if the program isn’t introduced by the end of March next year, the allocated funds may be lost.”
“I think that in the first quarter of next year, not only will I present the program, but we will also enter its legislative phase,” Paszyk said during an interview with Radio Zet when asked about the timeline for the government’s housing program.
He highlighted that next year’s state budget includes PLN 4.5 billion for housing, but if the program isn’t unveiled by the end of March, those funds might be forfeited.
“In the government, we are convinced that young Poles deserve support in accessing their first homes. For me, the key is the research conducted over many years. Nearly half of young Poles aged 25 to 35 say they see no prospects for owning their own home, and the government must address this. We have differences and disagreements over what form of support should take precedence,” he added.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that the previously promised 0% loan program will not be implemented.
“There will be no 0% loans. Poland has the highest mortgage rates in the European Union—almost twice the EU average—so we need to find a solution to help Poles in this area,” he said.
