Włodzimierz Czarzasty has recently been in the spotlight due to reports by Gazeta Polska about his dangerous connections. In his article, Piotr Nisztor revealed the Speaker’s relationships, as well as those of his wife, with a Russian citizen trading in works of art, employed by an auction house linked to Russia’s largest bank, controlled by the Kremlin.
Today, before the start of the Sejm session, the Speaker addressed a press conference. Prior to that, MPs from Law and Justice (PiS) tried to hand him a personal security questionnaire. Czarzasty did not decide to accept it.
He nevertheless stuck to his position.
“At my request addressed to the coordinator of the special services, Mr. Jacek Dobrzyński, the minister’s spokesperson, stated on February 4:
In response to journalists’ inquiries, I inform that the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who is under counterintelligence protection by Polish special services, has access to information of the highest secrecy classification. The special services have no reservations in this regard and strictly implement the applicable regulations.
That means it has been established that there is nothing improper with regard to me and my contacts. I consider this matter closed.”
