The Russian drone attack on Polish territory absolutely could not have been an accident, writes Tomasz Sakiewicz in Gazeta Polska Codziennie.
Too many of them entered, and they shared a common feature: they were most likely unarmed. Their purpose was therefore to make a strong impression while causing relatively little damage.
In other words, it was a kind of demonstration during peace negotiations. It is undeniable that the first phase of these negotiations failed due to Vladimir Putin’s resistance. The Kremlin warlord wants to end the war on conditions similar to those on which he started it, seizing large parts of Ukrainian territory, subordinating the rest, and driving American forces out of Eastern Europe. No one will grant him that, and any concessions on his part could become a deadly trap. Literally deadly, since the post-Soviet elites surrounding him may not forgive him for ruining the economy, the loss of a million lives, the emigration of several million people, and, above all, isolation from the Western world. Putin must raise the stakes in the negotiations.
Since he cannot yield anything in Ukraine, he will yield… in Poland. How so, when there is no war here? Indeed, there is not, but for a brief moment, it felt as if there was.
