“Who, in your opinion, is today the leader of the Polish right?” this question was asked in the latest SW Research survey. Poles pointed to two names, and after them… for a long, long time, no one else. The figures in question are President Karol Nawrocki and the leader of Law and Justice (PiS) – Jarosław Kaczyński.
Exactly a week ago, the December 13 team marked the second anniversary of the formation of the coalition government. It is worth recalling that the “Donald Tusk team” consists of Civic Coalition (KO), Polish People’s Party (PSL), Polska 2050 Party, and New Left.
Nevertheless, political fraternization with Tusk has caused the support for his “satellite parties” to fall dramatically. And this state of affairs is shown by every subsequent poll. Until now, however, it had been the case that, for example, New Left maintained support that would allow it to co-create the next Sejm. The latest study by the Ogólnopolska Grupa Badawcza (OGB) has cast an entirely new light on the situation. The parties that would enter the Sejm are Civic Coalition (KO) and… three opposition groupings. Namely: Law and Justice (PiS), Confederation, and Confederation of the Polish Crown.
The conclusion is therefore simple – the December 13 coalition does not enjoy particularly strong public support. By contrast, the Polish right is gaining strength, overtaking in the rankings the parties that make up that coalition.
A similar picture emerges from the trust ranking, that is, the Public Opinion Research Center (CBOS) survey. According to the latest results, President Karol Nawrocki is the politician who enjoys the greatest trust and is the only politician trusted by more than half of Poles. In December, trust in the president was declared by 54 percent of respondents, the same as a month earlier. The share of respondents who do not trust him increased by 3 percentage points, to 33 percent.
Who is the leader on the right? Poles see two
In light of the noticeable rise in the ratings of the Polish right, the SW Research survey commissioned by rp.pl examined whom Poles perceive most favorably in the role of leader on this side of the political scene. The question was: “Who, in your opinion, is today the leader of the Polish right?” And interestingly, the poll results leave no room for doubt. Two names were mentioned most often.
Karol Nawrocki received 28.9 percent of indications. Second place went to Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of Law and Justice (PiS), with support at the level of 19 percent.
A large share of responses was “I don’t know” – as many as 29.5 percent of respondents.
