Will Wroński Lose His Post? Media Report on Changes at the Foreign Ministry

According to unofficial media reports, Paweł Wroński may no longer serve as spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is already known who might replace him.

Press.pl writes about the changes in the diplomatic department. According to their findings, Wroński is to be replaced as ministry spokesperson by Maciej Wiewiór, former deputy director of the Government Information Center.

In an interview with the portal, Wiewiór did not want to confirm the reports. “There is one spokesperson for the MFA and that is Paweł Wroński. I joined the team, which Paweł also leads,” he said.

Wroński took over the position of MFA spokesperson on the day the government was sworn in, December 13, 2023. Previously, he had worked for years at Gazeta Wyborcza.

Communication at the Foreign Ministry

Recently, Wroński drew attention after a statement by Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki at the UN forum. Bosacki declared that the destruction of a house in Wyryki was caused by Russian drones, while it later turned out that the damage was in fact caused by a stray missile launched by a Polish fighter jet.

When asked by Niezalezna.pl on what basis Bosacki made such a statement, the MFA spokesperson replied that… from Kyiv’s perspective it was irrelevant:

“In general, one must approach such a situation with the deep conviction that the entire incident was caused by Russian drones entering Polish airspace. That is the fundamental fact. At the time, I was in Ukraine. There, they don’t dwell on whether the destruction was caused directly by Russian drones dropping bombs, or by missiles hitting those drones and by drone debris. These are the consequences of war. The original cause was a Russian drone. Poland was defending itself, and these are the effects. This is what war looks like. If one hasn’t seen it, it’s hard to understand — that’s all I have to say.”
