“You also need to know how to govern.” President disciplines Tusk: He must understand that he is not a king

“Being prime minister takes more than posting on X. You also need to know how to govern and put the state above party interests,” said President Karol Nawrocki in response to Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s video posted on social media. It also came to light that the government side is blocking access for the president and his representatives to key information regarding Poland’s security.

In the video posted on platform X, Tusk noted that “today, 136 brave Polish women and men – future intelligence officers from the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Internal Security Agency (ABW) – were to receive their first officer promotions.” He added that before every November 11, such requests are submitted to the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. “They won’t receive these promotions – I don’t know why. This time, the president decided not to sign them,” said the prime minister. According to Tusk, “this is just another stage of his war against the Polish government.”

“To be president, it’s not enough to win an election,” Tusk wrote – and soon received a response from the president.

“Being prime minister takes more than posting on X. You also need to know how to govern and put the state above party interests. The prime minister, in his usual style, lied and failed to explain what really happened,” began the video in which President Karol Nawrocki responds to the accusations made by Prime Minister Donald Tusk and explains step by step what the issue is about. It turns out that, in matters of security, the government is doing everything possible to cut off the president and his representatives from access to information.

Donald Tusk decided that the heads of the special services are forbidden to meet with the President of the Republic of Poland. In this way, the prime minister once again used the special services as a political weapon. While a war is taking place beyond our eastern border, he decided that the president – the commander-in-chief of the armed forces – should be deprived of access to the most important information about the state’s security. The president’s representative was denied access to crucial security information during a meeting of the College for Special Services. Four of my meetings with the heads of special services were canceled. It was during those meetings that key issues for Poland’s security were to be discussed and decisions regarding officer promotions made. However, this did not happen because the interests of the state were confused with party interests, said Nawrocki.

“I cannot and will not agree to this. Prime Minister Tusk must understand that he is not a king but the head of government, and that means he has a duty to cooperate with the president elected by the Polish people, especially on matters of national security,” emphasized the President of the Republic of Poland.

“Using the special services for fleeting fame on social media is extremely irresponsible and unacceptable. Soldiers and officers cannot be held hostage to the prime minister’s cynical political games. The safety of Poles has no party colors, Prime Minister of the government of lawlessness,” Nawrocki concluded.

“Now you know what the so-called ‘unprecedented act’ and ‘blow to the security system’ are really about – and you know who is to blame, who is undermining the rules and endangering the state’s security!” wrote the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), Sławomir Cenckiewicz.
