“You would have run that woman over!”. Żurek denies everything. [VIDEO]

“Please be careful! You would have almost run that woman over,” Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek was told after failing to yield to a woman who was already on the pedestrian crossing. The incident occurred during the recording of one of the popular YouTube shows.

The footage comes from the channel “Duży w Maluchu” (literally: “Big Guy in a Little Car”). The host invites well-known figures for conversations, with a car as the defining feature of each interview. Guests are invited into a Fiat 126p, popularly known in Poland as the “Maluch”. While driving the small car, they answer questions. The guest of the latest episode was Waldemar Żurek, the Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General. After several dozen minutes riding as a passenger, he took the wheel himself.

After about ten minutes of driving, he caused a dangerous situation on the road. “Please be careful! You would have almost run that woman over,” the passenger and host of the show said, just after the Maluch rolled across a pedestrian crossing. Żurek failed to yield to a woman who was stepping onto the crossing.

Let us recall that under the Road Traffic Act (Articles 13 and 26), a pedestrian entering or already on a pedestrian crossing has the right of way over a vehicle, with the exception of trams. A driver is required to slow down and stop the vehicle in order to yield. Failure to give way to a pedestrian is punishable by a fine of PLN 1,500 (PLN 3,000 in the case of repeat offenses) and 15 penalty points.
