Zelensky Invites Nawrocki to Ukraine and Signals Readiness to Visit Poland

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday that he has invited the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, to pay a visit to Ukraine. He also assured that he himself will visit Poland once he receives an invitation from the Polish head of state. He emphasized that this is important to him and expressed gratitude to Poland for its help and support. “We are working on the date of the presidents’ meeting in Warsaw through diplomatic channels, which remain open and active,” wrote the head of the National Security Bureau, Marcin Przydacz, on X.

Poland has supported Ukraine from the very beginning

“As for the President of Poland, I would be glad to meet him. I invited him and said: Please pick any date. Whatever date you choose, I will gladly meet. (…) I need a date, and then, if the President (Nawrocki) – officially or unofficially, however he wishes – invites me and proposes a time, I will of course come on an official visit to Poland. This is important to me,”

Zelensky said, answering journalists’ questions via WhatsApp.

Ukraine “respects Poland and is grateful to Poland for taking in our people, helping, and supporting us,” Zelensky stressed.

Deputy Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Adam Andruszkiewicz, asked on November 21 whether a conversation between the Presidents of Poland and Ukraine was planned, and stated that President Nawrocki was open to dialogue with Zelensky. “We are also, of course, in working contact with various foreign partners. However, our position here is very clear. President Nawrocki is open to dialogue, and we know that he always states publicly, clearly, that Russia is the aggressor and Ukraine is the victim – and it is good that the Polish state supports Ukraine in this tragic situation that we are in,” he said.

Nawrocki emphasized on X at the time that Ukraine has fallen victim to Vladimir Putin’s criminal aggression, and that Ukrainians, with the support of the United States and EU countries, must have the decisive voice in peace negotiations.

On October 27, Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, stated in a comment for the state agency Ukrinform that the Ukrainian side had proposed several potential dates for President Karol Nawrocki’s visit to Kyiv. “Contacts between the presidents are important for Ukraine and Poland. I proposed several dates that were accepted by the Polish side for consideration. There was no negative response,” Bodnar stressed.
