The 11th anniversary of the funeral of President Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria will be celebrated at the Cathedral in Wawel on Sunday evening. The Holy Mass will be celebrated with the intention of the victims of the Smoleńsk Air Disaster of 10th April 2010.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony will take place with respect to all the existing restrictions. The Mass will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and many more significant Polish politicians.
A short musical performance is planned after the Mass. Later on, the politicians will go to the crypt under the Tower of Silver Drones to lay flowers by the Lech and Maria Kaczyński’s sarcophagus.
By the Presidential Couple’s sarcophagus in the crypt at Wawel, there is a plaque in honour of the victims of the Smoleńsk Air Disaster of 10th April 2010 with the Latin proverb: “Corpora dormiunt, vigilant animae” (Bodies sleep, awake minds).
