Will we take off the masks? The latest infection rate gives reason for optimism

Loosening of restrictions on wearing masks outdoors is closer than ever. The latest figures show that the infection rate has fallen below the level that the Minister of Health indicated was appropriate for lifting some of the restrictions on covering the nose and mouth.

Under current regulations, you must cover your mouth and nose with a mask in public spaces, both indoors and outdoors.

At the end of April, Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski announced plans to remove the requirement of wearing masks outdoors from May 15. The obligation to cover the nose and mouth with a mask indoors will remain unchanged.

All indications are that the statistics are moving in the right direction. According to the latest data, the average infection rate per 100,000 population is 14.9. If it turns out that Poles observed the sanitary regime on the long weekend, the indicator may continue to fall in the coming days, which will only strengthen the government’s decision to loosen the mask restrictions.
