Orlen launches a huge investment. Kaczyński: “Poland expects Orlen to be a leader in the region”

“Poland expects Orlen to become the most powerful business leader of sustainable transformation at least in Central Europe,” Law and Justice (PiS) Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński stressed in a letter in connection with the launch of the Płock-based company’s investment. During today’s press conference, Orlen’s CEO Daniel Obajtek stressed that despite the pandemic Orlen can afford very large actions, such as the Olefin complex announced today, which is to be the largest petrochemical investment in Europe. “There have been no such events in the history of Orlen,” he pointed out.

Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin on Monday read a letter from Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the chairman of the Law and Justice party, during a conference on the PLN 13. 5 billion investment in the construction of Olefin III complex.

Kaczyński noted that Orlen has ambitious goals and is constantly developing, it is the flagship of the Polish economy.

You are on the right path and walking it confidently, but we want more. We want Orlen to quickly become the most powerful business leader of sustainable transformation – one would like to say – at least in Central Europe and this is what Poland and millions of Poles expect from you

    – remarked the Deputy Prime Minister.

In his letter, the president of the ruling party also referred to the “Polish Order” presented last week, which, as he pointed out, is to allow for the faster overcoming of social and economic effects of the pandemic, but also to give a developmental impulse to the economy for the future.

For the last five years, PKN Orlen has been experiencing a renaissance of its growth. We invest very heavily, (. . . ) we invest in difficult times, in times of pandemic, (. . . ) we have the largest investments that we make. There has never been anything like it in Orlen’s history

    – said PKN Orlen CEO Daniel Obajtek.

For about PLN 13. 5 billion, PKN Orlen will build an Olefin III complex at its main production plant in Płock (Mazowieckie province) by 2024. It is scheduled to be operational in 2025. According to the company, the implementation of the investment will contribute to an increase in EBITDA of about PLN 1 billion per year.
