Iga Świątek easily advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Adelaide. The Polish tennis player won on Thursday against last year’s US Open finalist Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6:1, 6:2.
Both sets were very similar and Iga Świątek dictated the pace. The Canadian was able to keep up with the Pole only at the beginning of each game. From the score of 1:1, the 20-year-old from Raszyn won a series of games.

In the first set, Świątek won 6:1, and in the second one, the Canadian managed to extend the match a little bit leading to 2:5. In that time, she defended three match balls. Moments later, with her serve, Świątek needed two more match balls.
Iga was better in every element of the match. She served very well. She didn’t commit a double fault and her opponent didn’t even have a single opportunity to win.
