Iga Świątek advanced from No. 9 to No. 4 in the Women’s Tennis Association ranking. This is a result of her excellent play at the Grand Slam Australian Open, where she reached the semifinals. Australia’s Ashleigh Barty, the winner of the Melbourne event, is still in the lead.
The fourth place is the highest position Iga Świątek has occupied so far in the WTA ranking. For the first time, a Polish tennis player was classified on it in September last year.
