“If Russia succeeds, it will continue to attack”

“Russia must not win this war. Once Russia succeeds, it will continue to attack. It will not satisfy its imperial ambitions, it will attack other countries, and the international community cannot condone it,” President Andrzej Duda said after a meeting between US President Joe Biden and the Heads of State of NATO and EU states.

This afternoon, US President Joe Biden convened a consultation with the Heads of State of Poland, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, the EU and NATO.

After the meeting, at a press conference, Andrzej Duda explained the details of the meeting.

“For my part, I gave a short report on the visit to Ukraine, to Kyiv, Borodianka, Irpin. It was also the moment when we were informed about the status of the exhumation work in Bucha, and I spoke about the talks with President Zelensky,” Andrzej Duda said.

“I have said what the situation is, how we are watching it, how the Ukrainian assessments were, how it will develop in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. We are witnessing a Russian offensive, which is expected by Ukraine and is being closely followed by the state’s secret services. The assessment of the overall situation is absolutely clear. We all know that Ukraine needs support,” added the Polish President.

He stressed that Ukraine could expect material support, among other things. Andrzej Duda pointed out that the determination to extend sanctions against Russia is also increasing.

“More and more Heads of State are talking about sanctions related to gas and oil. The issue of responsibility for war crimes was also strongly emphasised. It was not only a question of Putin’s responsibility, of the general public but also of the officers and soldiers, to know that crimes are being prosecuted,” the President said.

Russia must not win this war. Once Russia succeeds, it will continue to attack. It will not satisfy its imperial ambitions, it will attack other countries, and the international community cannot condone that,” he added.

President Duda also stressed that among the countries there is a clear condemnation of Russia’s actions.
