    High-Level International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine [VIDEO]

    Poland, together with Sweden, argues that both immediate assistance and long-term support are needed. The conference aims to raise funds for the growing humanitarian needs of Ukraine. The event is being spearheaded by Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki and Swedish PM Magdalena Andersson, in partnership with President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

    On 5 May 2022, a High-Level International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine will be held at the National Stadium in Warsaw. The event was initiated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson. The event partners include the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The aim of the initiative is humanitarian support for Ukraine.

     

     

    “The UN estimates that more than 12 million people in war-torn Ukraine are in urgent need of humanitarian aid, including food, shelter and medical supplies. The UN and its humanitarian partners have scaled up their operations in response to the overwhelming need (…) On 5th May in Warsaw, Poland and Sweden will co-host an International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine in partnership with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, and with the participation of the UN. The conference will facilitate the pledging of additional funds, which will be used for immediate life-saving humanitarian assistance via the Ukraine Flash Appeal and other funding mechanisms,” the official conference website informs.
