World’s famous cities and countries hidden in the Polish countryside

Italy, America, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Rome, Paris, and even Bethlehem – all these beautiful countries and cities are hidden in the Polish countryside. If you take it with a grain of salt, you can make a one-day trip and visit at least three different European countries! Some of the mentioned villages have also a passionate history of their origin.

In Cuyavia, a historical region in north-central Poland, there is a chance to visit not only the village called Paris but also the Rome and Venice villages. They are located only a couple of kilometres away from each other. What is interesting, one of the worth seeing landmarks of Poland, the Chrobry Oak can be admired in the Rome village. Chroby is the largest oak in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe.

Apart from this, the Paris village in Cuyavia has a secret of a great love between Alexander Guttre and his wife. Guttre’s wife came from France and was in love with her homeland, especially the capital city of France. A nobleman Guttre was then the owner of the village and decided to name this countryside to please his wife.

The unique villages in Poland are rather not much populated. In the America village in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, there are only 83 residents, similarly to the Venice village.

Also, in Poland, we can find more villages under the same name, for example, America in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and Lublin Voivodeship. In most cases, the names came from the nationality of its residents or other foreign affairs of the countryside communities, for instance, a trip abroad of the village administrator. We can assume that in the past, the purpose of the decision to change the name could have been made to improve tourism.
