    Retro picnic with Roaring Twenties

This weekend (June 11th-12th) in Konstancin-Jeziorna took place a picnic inspired by the 1920s and 1930s. It’s a yearly festival organized by the Hugonówka House of Culture to promote the Health Resort in Konstancin. Among the attractions are concerts, games and tour guides in the resort, all stylized to resemble the period of the Roaring Twenties.

For the first day of the festival (June 11th), the Hugonówka House of Culture organized guide trips and a bridge competition. At 8 P.M. started a concert “Music Journey Through Europe”. Among the artists were H-Band from Hranice (Czechia) and Duo Superb from Denz Lingen (Germany), who presented different styles in the European music world.

The main event of the festival was the Retro Parade on June 12th. At 1 P.M. nearby the Old Paper Mill gathered people dressed in period outfits, but also historic cars, bicycles and carriages. The vehicles were led to the Amphitheatre along the Parade. There, the Orchestra on a Big Bike (Orkiestra Na Dużym Rowerze) composed of six musicians performed while riding on a bicycle.

In the Health Resort’s Park, there were dance classes of waltz, tango and foxtrot. There were also flights on a balloon and competitions for the best costume. The star of the show is Sound’n’Grace, who will perform at 8 P.M. at the Amphitheatre. The festival will end after that with a dance party “Bal Apaszów” inside the House of Culture. Entry to both days of the festival is free.
