A giant heart made of polished sheet metal by Sino Sculpture Group in Tianjin, Northern China, is a unique sculpture that will soon be placed on the WOŚP Square in Łódź. The sculpture is so large and unusual that its transport to Poland was a real challenge.
The polished sheet metal of which the sculpture for Łódź is made is a noble, modern and very effective material. The heart of 3.5 meters high is a huge three-dimensional mirror that reflects the surroundings. The sculpture will be placed on the square of the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy in Łódź. However, before “A Heart for Łódź” reached its destination, it had to travel 12,000 nautical miles to Gdańsk from Tianjin in Northern China, where it was created.
Another unique aspect of the heart’s transport was the Mayview Maersk ship, one of the largest container ships in the world. The carrier ensured the loading, stowage and securing of the sculpture.
“It was a demanding project, but we like challenges, so we were eager to get involved in the project and provided transport services from A to Z,” Marketing Manager of Langowski Logistics, Tomasz Gawrylczyk says. When the cargo is oversized, we are talking about a specialized service called Project Cargo. This was the case here. The heart is 3.5 meters high, and it has been additionally placed in a special rack-box nearly 4 meters high for transport which significantly exceeded the height of the available containers. It was, therefore, necessary to use special structures for the transport of oversized loads, the so-called Open Top for top loading,” he explains.
Langowski Logistics is a Polish logistics company with a global reach, operating in the TSL industry for eighteen years, ensuring delivery of goods to any place on Earth. The company specializes in the transport of containerized cargo, both full-container and general cargo, but also has repeatedly implemented projects in the field of transporting oversized cargo.
